If you partied at TLC, Bamboo Nest, Gabz, then you will agree that Selector Jay deserves a toast. And if you were not at Club Guvnor parking lot last Friday to celebrate this guy, then you ain’t loyal. This spot, according to Jay, holds a special place in his life and that is why he chose to celebrate his 15th anniversary.

Selector Jay, real name Joshua Baguma, had quite a huge turn up to celebrate with him, proof that he is not only appreciated among fellow DJs, but fans as well.

“The DJ needs the artistes as much as the artistes need the DJs,” Daggy Nice, one of the evening’s MCs said before sending shoutouts to artistes to came through, including Feffe Bussi, King Saha, Lydia Jazmine, Exodus, Mun G, Ruyonga, The Mith, Carol Kasita, Eddy Kenzo, Michael Ouma, Joseph Sax as well as Bebe Cool and Fik Fameica. Among the DJs was Nash, Alludah, Brian, Ciza and SlickStuart and Roja.

Some artistes praised Jay for the professional help he has rendered them through the years while those who he has not worked with yet, are optimistic that he will work with them someday.

Selector Jay took on the decks in superstar style, mixing from old skool, RnB to dancehall, before doing a Mowzey Radio tribute with DJ Alludah.

Clad in a blue blazer and jeans, Jay took over the night and on some occasions, abandoned the decks to come on stage, dancing and then heading right back to do his thing.

“I would like to thank Guvnor for giving me the plartform to exhibit my talent, Muchachos Events for organising this show, Johnnie Walker for the sponsorship and most importantly the public for accepting me and what I do. To everyone who came through, I really appreciate and to the fellow deejays, emcees and artistes, this is a debt.”
It was about 1:30am.
