Flavia Namulindwa wants diaspora event to have great impact on Ugandans

Flavia Namulindwa

The 33rd edition of the UNAA Convention starts today. It will bring together Ugandans in the US to celebrate culture and socialise through a cultural gala, musical performances, a youth empowerment forum, women forums, and boat dinner cruise, among others.

Ordinarily, a big annual event in the USA has not maximised its potential to bridge the gap between Ugandans in the diaspora and those back home.

Even though it began 33 years ago, it’s known to a few elites. Former journalist Mary Flavia Namulindwa, who is currently living in the US, wants the 2021 edition to be different. Sources have told us she will be taking up the mantle to relay all real-time information about the event at Hyatt Regency Hotel Cincinnati, Ohio, by streaming it live on her newly created online TV channel, Diaspora Connect Ug.

For the very first time, those who won’t attend shall enjoy the event virtually. That’s how important Namulindwa feels this function is to all Ugandans.
