Swangz Avenue’s Azawi has all the reasons to be happy as she is the most nominated artiste in this year’s Buzz Teeniez Awards.
Like she sang, it’s indeed her year after getting eight nods shortly followed by Fik Fameica who has five.
Among the categories she’s nominated in include Teeniez Artiste of the year, female artiste of the year, song writer of the year, Flyest video and hottest song.
The nominations have been ongoing for three weeks by the teenagers on the Buzz Teenz website.
In the artiste of the year, she is up against Liam Voice, Fik Fameica and Pallaso.
Running for 15 years, orgainsiers of Buzz Teeniez say they have remained true to being the voice of the Ugandan teens with more participants in the digital space, among other changes this year.
Among the new categories is the Teenz next big thing which will recognize up-and-coming talent in any discipline. It’s for that budding talent that is starting to gather attention amongst their peers but hasn’t blown up yet. Nominated in this category is ABC Gang & Cyza Musiq (musicians), Brennan Baby (content creator) and DJ El Nicho.
Then there is the Tik Tok Sound of Year which is about the global impact of the social Media platform on music and culture couldn’t be ignored. Musicians and other content creators have invested energy and resources to keep fans engaged on this platform and these efforts will be rewarded. Liam Voice, Vinka, Daddy Andre and Azawi battle in this category.
Voting for this year’s awards started today and will run until December 17.
