Tuff B slams NRM government ‘for dividing musicians’

Local artiste and TV presenter Robert Sekide, popularly known as Tuff B has slammed government for what he described as lack of political will to support the music industry.

In a twitter post, the ‘Yambuna’ artiste branded the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) government which has been in power since 1986 as distractors who use the divide and rule method to entrench themselves in power.

“The NRM gov’t lacks political will to support the music industry, but will create many small factions disguised as music federations only to divide musicians to prevent more Bobi Wines. This divide-and-rule strategy, is used by dictators throughout history to prevent revolutions,” reads his post.

His statement came after the formation of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) that has left artists broken into small camps.

The federation’s leader, Edrisa Musuza commonly known as Eddy Kenzo last week confirmed that UNMF had been certified by Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB).

“The federation certificate is here, guys. Congratulations to all of us. The time is now, let’s get to work. Mwebale kulwana banange (thank you for fighting), but still struggle tenagwa (the struggle continues) . We welcome everyone on board… tewali kusosola (no discrimination). Congratulations to all registered associations. Mukama mulungi (God is great),” Eddy Kenzo’s message to fellow musicians.

A number of artists like Sheebah Karungi, Lydia Jazmine, fik fameica Nina Roz among others gathered at the federation’s headquarters at Alure hotel in Mutundwe, Kampala to celebrate the good news.

Eddie Kenzo requested his fellow members to work hard to achieve the federation’s goals.
