Sandra Nankooma teases with new music

Sandra Nankooma

Sandra Nankooma

You may remember her for winning the Afrima award for her single Kadugala in 2018. She was one of the Ugandans who won at the awards show held in Nigeria.

Since then, Nankoma has relocated to France and, well, released a documentary film about being a dark-skinned Ugandan, aptly titled The Dark One. Now word reaching our desk is that the soul jazz artiste is releasing new music.

A new song, Kakana, was released towards the end of 2023. The afrosoul single produced by composer Kaz Isaac Kasozi is about patience or staying grounded as we navigate a fast-paced world.

The song is an invitation to reflect, find meaning in life, and live authentically.

Nankoma’s 2018 self-titled album took her places and she won a number of awards for it. The single, Kadugala, was nominated twice at the Afrimas and was used as a soundtrack for dance pieces, art exhibitions, and her documentary film.

The artiste is said to be working on new material; however, will she follow this up with an album? We can only wait.
