Sundays in Kampala may never be the same again after Baoli Restaurant and Lounge unveiled its inaugural Baoli Brunch Experience — a curated blend of style, fine dining, and live music that offered guests a refined yet playful escape from the city’s usual weekend routine.
The debut edition, held yesterday, drew a chic crowd to the upscale Kololo venue, setting a new bar for lifestyle events in the capital.
From the moment guests stepped onto the black carpet entrance — serenaded by two violinists playing soulful renditions of popular songs — it was clear this wasn’t going to be an ordinary brunch.
Inside, Baoli’s intimate but vibrant setting came alive with a mix of mellow live band performances and ambient chatter, as guests sipped on Don Julio cocktails and shared plates designed to impress. The three-course menu, prepared by Baoli’s South African-born in-house chef, featured thoughtful flavour pairings and elegant plating that elevated the experience from simply social to sensory.
But the evening’s most talked-about moment came when Sheila Gashumba — known to many as Lil Stunner — made her official deejay debut. Taking to the decks for the first time, the media personality and nightlife fixture surprised even her biggest fans with a confident and stylish set. Her playlist, filled with current hits and seamless transitions, quickly drew the crowd to the floor — and kept them there.
For a first gig, it was more than just a test — it was a statement. And judging by the response, Sheila passed with flying colours.
With its seamless blend of fashion, music, and food, the Baoli Brunch Experience is positioning itself as a new staple on Kampala’s upscale social calendar — one Sunday at a time.
