It was a night of celebration and collaboration as the Speke group employees and invited guests gathered at Dolphin Suites Bugolobi for a cocktail event last Thursday.

Among the invited guests were wedding planners, decorators, marketers and many other stakeholders in the events industry.

As they entered the venue, they were welcomed by the vibrant beats of traditional music from the Heart of Dance Troupe, setting the mood for a night of fun and networking.

The dancefloor was a stage of joy as guests enjoyed the evening away, forgetting the stress of work and embracing the celebration.

The general manager Dolphin Suites, Deepak Mishra, said the aim of the event was to network and forge ways to work together to improve standards of the events industry.

“We want to improve the standards of destination weddings. People from abroad are also coming for destination weddings in Uganda,” Mishra said.

He added: “Uganda has a fine rich culture, heritage and is a wildlife conservation place with a fast-moving present and a promising future.”

It was also during the event that the group also unveiled its new gardens at the hotel that will now be available for hosting various events, ranging from wedding parties, birthday parties, among others.

Mishra further highlighted that the new gardens will not only provide a beautiful venue for events, but also create employment opportunities for Ugandans as he revealed that they  already employed 60 workers and more will be added as the gardens are fully utilised.

The beauty of dance is that it knows no age.

“We have to employ people and you see the youth are the future of Uganda and when we employ, we train the people with various skills which help them improve their livelihood,” Mishra said.

As the night went on, the invited guests were asked different questions and those who answered correctly were rewarded with a night stay at Dolphin Suites, while others won a dinner.

The cocktail event was a huge success, bringing together the best in the events industry and paving a way for future collaborations.

As the guests left with smiles on their faces and new connections made, it was clear that the Speke Group had once again raised the bar for events in the city.
