MC Kash shares a light-hearted moment on stage with the Merry Hearts comedians from Kampala during his 15-year comedy celebration at Password Lounge, Gulu.
Password Lounge in Gulu burst into waves of laughter last Friday night as MC Kash, affectionately known as “Owakabi,” celebrated 15 years in comedy. The region’s tallest funnyman proved once again that laughter is not just entertainment, it’s serious business.
Powered by Uganda Waragi, the celebration was a spirited affair, with cocktails and discounted drinks flowing as smoothly as the punchlines. Every toast raised in the buzzing venue was a nod to MC Kash’s remarkable journey through Uganda’s evolving comedy landscape.
MC Kash officially began his mainstream career in 2010 as an emcee, gradually perfecting his stage presence before taking the bold leap into stand-up comedy. Over the past decade and a half, he has built a name that resonates from community gatherings to corporate events, weddings, and festivals any stage where laughter is currency.
“MC Kash represents the dedication and passion we celebrate at Uganda Waragi,” said Hillary Baguma, Brand Manager for Mainstream Spirits at Uganda Breweries Limited. “For 15 years, he’s shown the same consistency and boldness that defines our brand. We’re honored to have witnessed his growth and are proud to support acts that bring people together.”
Themed “Comedy Meets Music and Vibes,” the sold-out show drew an eclectic and distinguished crowd. Tables were booked out a full week in advance, with VIPs, investors, musicians, and fellow comedians from across the country converging to honour the comedy stalwart.
The night was a blend of nostalgia and fresh material, as MC Kash revisited some of his most memorable moments on stage, served up new jokes, and even handed out shots in humorous tribute to the flops that came with the triumphs.
The evening also showcased the richness of regional humour, with Arua’s comedy duo Pato & Ziggy Zagga, South Sudan’s Lawrence, Kampala’s Merry Hearts crew, and Don Andre delivering sets that left the audience in stitches.
And the music didn’t disappoint either. Performances by Magic Eezzy and Eddy Wizzy, plus an electric DJ lineup featuring Joel Fresh, Frisco, and Dre, kept the energy high between the laughter breaks.
MC Kash’s milestone wasn’t just a personal triumph, it was a signal that Northern Uganda’s entertainment scene has matured and arrived. It was a celebration of resilience, timing, and the belief that humour can unite and uplift communities.
As Uganda Waragi continues its journey toward 60 years of championing local expression, its support for such landmark comedic showcases underscores a broader commitment to Uganda’s creative economy.
MC Kash’s 15th anniversary marked not just a look back at a colourful journey, but a bold step forward—proof that the future of Ugandan comedy is bright, loud, and proudly Northern.
