Socialite Don Chris wanted – police

Kampala socialite Christian Asiimwe, alias Don Chris

Self-proclaimed Kampala socialite Christian Asiimwe, alias Don Chris is a wanted man, police have said.

Don has been in the limelight for at least three years now over his lavish spending and sponsoring of music concerts under his company Skypins Tours and Travels, which is now under the spotlight.

According to police, the socialite, through his Skypins Tours and Travel Company, heavily invested in advertisements on TVs, radio stations and other social media platforms like TiK Tok about job opportunities offered abroad and encouraged the public to visit their offices located at Ntinda Haruna mall.

“This prompted several people to visit their offices. The victims were promised to travel on loan after depositing half of the full payment (s) according to different contracts for different jobs in different countries like Canada, United Kingdom, Qatar, Dubai, Luxembourg among others,” said the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango.

According to police, several people paid money ranging from Shs3.5 million to Shs10 million, depending on job contracts on different dates, which is estimated to a tune of Shs 500,000,000 in total.

“Most victims who paid were issued with company receipts and would be promised to travel in a period of two to six months, but unfortunately, the victims did not travel to the countries as had earlier agreed,” said Mr Onyango.

Detectives are also suspicious of why the company’s location changed from Ntinda Haruna mall, where the majority of the victims paid money, to Kitende along Entebbe Road.

“The victims approached the Minister for Youth and Children Affairs, Hon Balaam Barugahara for intervention, who later forwarded the victims to CID Commander KMP for action. On June 17, 2025, a general inquiry file was opened and investigations commenced,” revealed Onyango.

He has disclosed that a total of 85 victims were interviewed, and their statements were recorded.

“Police have found out that most victims paid money between 2023 and 2024 at Ntinda, Haruna mall and a negligible number paid at the current office located at Kitende along Entebbe Road,” he said.

Victims told police that despite several demands for refund, the company has remained adamant with a “series of threats and intimidation by one Asiimwe Christian, alias Don Chris as alleged by most victims.”

According to police, SkyPins Tours and Travel Company has never been authorized to operate as an external labor recruitment agency by the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, thus making Don Chris a person of interest and wanted man.
