Artistes mock Pam awards

They say it’s not good to kick a man who is already down but don’t tell that to Ugandan artistes – at least five artistes mocked the Pam awards during Mariam Ndagire’s talent search show Uganda’s Next Icon finale at Bat Valley last Friday.

First to pull the gun was Kadongo Kamu icon Fred Sebatta who said that he was hesitant to respond to the invitation to the Next Icon finale show because he thought it was going to be “unfair like Pam Awards whose organisers just make decisions from their sitting rooms without following right procedures and consulting people.”

The likes of Andrew Benon Kibuuka, Sam Gombya, Chris Evans and Sophie Gombya agreed.
The artistes, however, left contented that Ndagire’s venture is a fair race where music wannabes of all music genres in Uganda  come face to face for a grand prize of Shs5 Million recording deal.
This year’s competition was won by Ismail Kasozi who won himself the privilege to record at top producer Hannz’s studios.
The show which airs on Star TV and NBS TV had over 120 contestants enter the preliminaries.
