When Cindy fired up revellers at Blankets and Wine

Much as most people thought Cindy was the weak link during the 17th edition of Blankets and Wine, the organisers thought it best to have her as the last artiste to perform at Cricket Oval and my oh my, it was the best move.

Unlike the Cindy we have always known, she performed with a live band and her performance was worth the long wait. She seemed to have mastered all the dance moves by her dancers, she switched voices on songs like “Sample dat”, “Amateeka”, “Ayokyayokya” and “Dat dat” among others. Throughout her performance, you would think she was doing her own cover songs because the songs sounded different from the originals.

Before she came on stage, Afrigo band took revelers down memory lane with songs such as “Olundelebu”, “Okwagalana kwaffe”, “Ekitobero”, “Mundeke”, “Nantongo” among others but their performance was average as some people didn’t seem bothered as they just watched football in the DSTV tents while others sipped on free beer.

Despite the earlier rain scare, early birds got a chance to watch Afrie whose performance was truly a sign that the music industry has got talent to watch out for. Other who performed included Kenya’s Muthoni the Drummer Queen, Scandinavian group band – Daniel Lemma & Hot This Year, Fena Gitu, Kager Mungai, Pelindah, Byg Ben, Apio Moro, Joash, Mayonde, Essie, DJ Beekay & RPM and DJ Rachel who kept the crowd entertained by her mixes.

Blankets and Wine, a quarterly, picnic style music festival is organized by House of Deejays and sponsored by Tusker malt lager. It’s one of the most sought after events and on every occasion, revelers attend in huge number.
