Kampala socialite Brian Kirumira popularly known as Bryan White has hailed President Museveni’s leadership criticising some Ugandans whom he says are “ungrateful for what he has done for the last 32 years” he has been in power.

According to him, Ugandans ought to appreciate what Mr Museveni has “done for them” instead of just criticising his leadership.

“I won’t fight useless childish battles with anyone. I see some people saying the money I have is given to me by the president from the national coffer. Like I have said before, Museveni has never given me any money. Ugandans are so naïve to believe such theories. My President already knows what I’m doing. I hear some people attacking him in the media (Museveni) claiming he’s has misled this country. I assure you the president will go; but at the right time. Museveni is not the problem. We are the problem. Those who work with him are the problem,” Bryan White said in the popular Luganda dialect as he exhibited big sums of stashed money at a press conference he held in Kampala on Friday.

White said he’s not interested in politics because he doesn’t have the ability to lead Ugandans.

“Ugandans are wise. I even admire the president for having led Ugandans for this long,” he said before adding that his Bryan White Foundation plans to camp in Arua, Busia and Kampala districts for four months each to awaken the youth from poverty.

In July this year, police raided White’s home and impounded a luxurious Mercedes Benz Cross Country on allegations that he acquired it fraudulently.

It was alleged that Bryan White bought a Mercedes Benz Cross Country and paid only US$100,000 of US$250,000 (about Shs930,146,032). He allegedly promised to pay the balance, which he did not, prompting the former owner to report a criminal case of obtaining goods by false pretence against Bryan White.

Deputy Police spokesman, Superintendent Patrick Onyango, said Bryan White was summoned by Nakawa Magistrate’s Court several times to respond to the charges, but he didn’t appear.

Right at the time when he was cementing his position in Ugandan social life, White and his bodyguard Thomas Okot were remanded to Luzira Maximum Security Prison for attempting to kill Mr Victor Bitwire, a neighbour of White. The duo were reported to have shot Mr Bitwire on the night of December 13 last year in Munyonyo.

White and Okot were incarcerated in prison as the case was being heard by court until January 7 when he gained temporary freedom as he was granted Shs20 million cash bail.

Since then, Bryan White was in and out of court until March 10 when the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Mr Mike Chibita dismissed the court proceedings against him.

The dismissal of the court proceedings came after Bryan White reconciled with Mr Bitwire on March 9 and he agreed to be compensated and settle things outside court.
