Singer Bebe Cool has gotten more reason to brag after he bagged the accolade for Best East African Male Artist in the 5th All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) 2018 held in Accra Ghana on Saturday night.

The singer beat Tanzania’s beat Diamond Platnumz, Juma Jux, Harmonize, Nyashinski among others.

He managed to beat an online campaign by certain members of the public who were encouraging people to vote for Diamond Platnumz instead. This came as a result of Bebe Cool’s unweathering support to Uganda’s President Museveni and his apparent dislike for singer-turned-politician Bobi Wine.

“Ladies and gentlemen, this is my first AFRIMA Award and I am 41 years old. I would like to thank my fans in Uganda and all over the world for voting for me. It has been a big war, but we have won,” Bebe Cool said after being handed his accolade.

Bebe Cool donned a yellow beret in apparent support of the NRM political party.

He dedicated the award to his youngest daughter and to the departed souls of the people that died when a boat capsized in Lake Victoria waters on Saturday afternoon.

Irene Namatovu and Sandra Nankoma took the awards for best traditional act and best female in African inspirational music respectively.
