After announcing the debut edition of the Kampala Worship Fest at the beginning of the year, the headlining act Don Moen touched down on Thursday morning.

The American singer, songwriter  and pastor will be joining local artistes Sandra Suubi, Exodus, Brian Lubega, Wilson Bugembe, Watoto Choir and Levixone among others in what is set to become an annual celebration of gospel and inspirational music.

Addressing journalists at Mestil Hotel on Thursday, the 68 year old worshipper revealed that he was honored to  be in Uganda again and could not wait to share the stage with the talented Ugandan artistes.

“When we come together to praise, God inhabits the praise of his people and his people are in Uganda,” he said.

During the conference, the artiste revealed that he has managed to stay relevant by staying true to himself and never trying to imitate others.

The conference was of course attended by artistes Bugembe, Levixone, Suubi and Lubega. Bugembe noted that he started his ministries after being inspired by Don Moen.

“I used to be on the streets struggling to survive, then one day I saw a video of him performing in a packed stadium and that did not leave me the same,” he opened up that today, he has since started a Praise and Worship night at his church.

Don Moen rarely collaborates thus the question of whether he can collaborate with a Ugandan act was fronted and he noted that he is always open to collaborations once he and the artiste find a middle ground.

The Praise Fest in Kampala will be the beginning of this years celebrations that will end in Kigali where the singer will be hosting another show.

Isaac Rucci, a singer and one of the organisers noted that it is possible to turn the Praise Fest into a regional event with chapters in both Kenya and Tanzania, though this particular one is only in two countries.

Gates at Kololo Independence Grounds will be open as early as 5pm according to the organisers.
