Museveni impoverished, marginalised Ghetto for 34 years- Bobi Wine

Ugandan pop star Bobi Wine has said President Museveni marginalized and impoverished the Ghetto for the last 34 years in power and only trying to poise himself as a Ghetto man because he’s scared.

“The folly of dictatorship! 34 years, he impoverished, marginalised & ignored the ghetto. Tired of indignity, the ghetto rose up to speak- led by the Ghetto President. He dismissed us. We persisted. Very scared & desperate, he now returns as ‘Man of Ghetto.’ The sheer lack of shame,” Bobi Wine real name Robert Kyagulanyi said as he reacted to a photo in which a group of ghetto youth from Katwe and Kibuye are seen displaying Museveni portrait to the president.

This was during Museveni’s launch the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) empowerment office for youth living and working in the areas of Kibuye and Katwe on Saturday.

“The office will be a registration point for SACCOs and will make it easy for us to support the youth in their different productive groups,” the president said.

As the president officiated the launch of the NRM Youth Camp Headquarters at Kibuye in Kampala, one Elijah Nsubuga, commonly referred as Ghetto Commander gifted him with Shs100,000 ($27) as his personal contribution towards any of Museveni’s future expenses.

Nsubuga said his gesture was also to challenge those who think ghetto people have no money.

“To the likes of Ghetto Commander and the youths out there, the government is ready to support you to make more money. Form groups that share the same interests, and they will be easily empowered to access government support,” Museveni said.
