People Power diehard Sweet Pepsi passes on

People Power diehard Hannington Ssewankambo alias Sweet Pepsi has passed on this morning.

News of his death was confirmed by the leader of the People Power movement Bobi Wine on his social media platforms.

Ssewankambo came to light last year when pictures of him bleeding profusely flooded social media. He had been injured during people power protests.

“Deeply saddened by the untimely death of comrade and artiste Ssewankambo Hannington, commonly known as Sweet Pepsi. Last year, Sweet Pepsi was grossly brutalised by the military, for joining other Ugandans to express solidarity with me and our cause, this harmless and peaceful citizen was bartered by those who were supposed to protect him. The cold, brutal men left him bleeding profusely and went for other targets. It is very painful that he has died without seeing any of those who violated him being brought to justice,” the Kyadondo East MP, real name Robert Kyagulanyi, posted on his Facebook page.

The cause of his death is, however, not yet known.
