Sylvia Namutebi Allibhai is Mrs. World Uganda

Halima Namakula and Crystal Newman have been the only Ugandans to participate in the Mrs. World beauty pageant previously but not anymore as Sylvia Namutebi Alibhai joins them on this venture.

The former Miss Uganda has been crowned Mrs. World Uganda and will be representing Uganda at Mrs. World Pageant happening later this year in Sri Lanka.

In a press conference held today, Sylvia spoke of her delight to be the new Mrs. World Uganda and will do everything possible to live up to the expectation.

“I feel delighted and grateful for this opportunity to fill this gap that has existed in this country for ten years. It’s a privilege to be the person selected to take on this mantle. My involvement and background in Miss Uganda has contributed a lot to this selection and I will not disappoint,” she said.

Speaking about what is ahead, she said that she has a six months journey to build her profile before the competition in Sri Lanka in which she has to solidify her position as a woman to carry this crown.

Asked why she thinks she was the perfect person to be selected, the 2011 Miss Uganda said that she is an inspirational woman who has been married for five years now and running projects like ‘single mothers’ and educating marginalized communities on the importance of safe motherhood. With these responsibilities, it’s beyond a reasonable doubt she was the perfect candidate.

The difference between this pageant and Miss Uganda is that Mrs. Uganda is entirely about responsibility. It’s a pageant for ladies who are married and with kids yet the requirement for Miss Uganda is being single ladies without any kids.

Mrs. Sylvia Wilson Namutebi Alibhai is married to Talent Africa CEO Aly Alibhai and was instrumental in reviving the Miss Uganda Pageant as the Miss Uganda Project coordinator for the years 2018 and 2019 during which she cemented her portfolio in the pageantry world.

Voting is ongoing on the contestant’s photo on Mrs. World pageant’s official Facebook and Instagram pages; like and comment to push her further into the competition.
