Zzina Awards releases nomination list

The last two Zzina awarding ceremonies were held virtually due to the pandemic but since the economy is fully open, the award show will be happening on the 25th of this month at Thobani Centre on Kampala road.

This year’s award ceremony has 18 categories namely Best inspirational song, Best fans team, Best Lugaflow/Rap song, Best Lugaflow/rap artist, best dancehall song and artist, Best contemporary song and artist, best Afro-Beat song, best songwriter, best comedian, Best producer, Best Collaboration, Best female artist, Best male, Breakthrough, song of the year and artist of the year.

Some of the tight categories include Best female which has artists like Sheebah, Azawi, Spice Diana, Martha Mukisa, Vinka, Karole Kasita, Pia Pounds, and Lydia Jazmine, Best male with artists like Zex Bilangilangi, Pallaso, Liam Voice, Fik Fameica, An-Known, John Blaq and Eddy Kenzo while Artist of the year has Kenzo, John Blaq, Pallaso, Azawi, Chameleone, and Fik Fameika.

The guidelines for this year’s nomination include a song having been released between 1st Jan 2021 to 31st December 2021 and that the category entries were carefully screened by the Zzina awards committee, a select group of experts with experience working in the music industry.

The recipients for the sports personality award and Legend award are chosen by the committee.
