Ethiopian ambassador to Uganda, Her Excellency Etsegenet Bezabih Yimenu has shared her tremendous admiration for Ugandan dance group Ghetto Kids and Grammy award nominee Eddy Kenzo.

Known for her love of music, Ms Yimenu has watched several videos of the Ghetto Kids.

“I watched them 10 years ago in an Eddy Kenzo video (Sitya Loss). I reached out to Eddy Kenzo to find out if they were the same kids or not, and he confirmed they are. He does not know me but we just chatted about it. I like them and follow them always,” she said.

According to the envoy, Ghetto Kids’ being finalists on the concluded Britain’s Got Talent show and Eddy Kenzo’s nomination in the 2023 Grammys was a big achievement not only for Uganda but for the African continent because they promoted African entertainment through their talent.

“I plan to bring them to Ethiopia. They need to come to the Land of Origin and it would be really nice if we could do something together. I just want to congratulate them and offer them Ethiopian treats at my residence here in Kololo.”

She also revealed that Uganda is a country with beautiful music that gives peace of mind, especially to a music lover like herself. The envoy noted that she fell in love with Uganda’s entertainment industry and enjoys the busy weekends at live concerts because she loves music.

“Every time I come home, there is this neighbour who plays loud music. However, I don’t complain because I enjoy his playlist which entertains me while seated in my house,” she said.

The ambassador said this while giving an update on her tour of duty to the Public Diplomacy Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uganda at her residence in Kololo.
