Bebe Cool postpones comeback concert to 2026, focuses on new album

For the second time in recent years, Bebe Cool has pushed back plans for a long-awaited concert, this time setting 2026 as the new date.

The veteran singer had previously hinted at staging a show this year, first during a Rotary event at Speke Resort Munyonyo and later at Obafest at Jahazi Pier, where he responded to a fan’s question by confirming that he would hold a concert in 2024.

“It has been a long time since I last had a concert, but next year, I am going to stage one,” Bebe Cool said at the time, calling on Rotarians to support the show and his Golden Heart Foundation, which assists underprivileged children.

However, fans were left disappointed last Thursday when the Mbozi Za Malwa singer contradicted those earlier statements during a performance at Skyz Hotel in Naguru. Speaking on stage, Bebe revealed that the concert would now be pushed to 2026 — extending the wait for a proper headline show to eight years since his last major event, the Golden Heart Concert held at Kololo Airstrip in 2018.

The announcement did not sit well with some of the fans in attendance, many of whom had anticipated that a 2024 concert was finally on the cards.

Instead, Bebe Cool will be dedicating the year to the rollout of his new studio album Break the Chains, which he has described as a major milestone in his career. The album is set for release on Friday, May 30, 2025.

“Dear friends, the long wait is finally coming to an end!” Bebe posted on his socials. “This album marks a defining moment in my career as an artist. I am venturing into evolving sound, blending my signature style with fresh Afrobeats influences and raw storytelling.”

So far, Circumference and Motivation are the only two tracks that have been released from the project.

Whether the album will fill the gap left by the delayed concert remains to be seen, but for now, fans will have to settle for new music — and wait a little longer for that long-promised live show.
