Musician Ivan Bugembe, alias Dax Vibez, is currently detained at Central Police Station in  Jinja City over alleged assault, police have said.

The musician who was hired to perform at the “Ekitudha” concert organised by Baba Media Group on Sunday was arrested in the wee hours of Monday morning after his performance.

A video clip showing an altercation between Dax Vibez, his older brother Mikie Wine and security officers at a Police station has since gone viral on different social media platforms.

“After Mikie Wine and Dax Vibez performed at the show, they proceeded to Kampala. Upon reaching Shell Amber Court in Jinja City, they branched off to the said petrol station. While at the petrol station, Mikie Wine’s side developed serious misunderstandings with Ibra Hussein, a resident of Jinja City. As a way of trying to resolve the matter amicably, they all brought themselves to CPS Jinja Central,” said Mubi James, the Police Spokesperson in Kiira Region.

“Police endeavoured to amend the situation for the two conflicting parties. Subsequently, Ibra Hussein opened up a case of assault against Mikie Wine. In turn, Mikie Wine also opened up a case of malicious damage against Ibra Hussein, but later on, the duo were given police bond,” he revealed.

He added that: “While at CPS Jinja Central, Dax Vibez allegedly assaulted Ibra Hussein, prompting a fresh charge of assault against Dax Vibez.”

Police said investigations are ongoing to ascertain facts surrounding the case. The police publicist added that detectives are reviewing CCTV cameras at the police station and Shell Amber Court for purposes of obtaining evidence.

A post about the same incident on Mike Wine’s Facebook page reads:

“Mikie Wine and his Team were attacked and beaten up by a gang led by NRM youth leader in Jinja, commonly known as Yasin Ibra but when they went to police to report, instead tables turned and Mikie Wine and Dax VibeZ were arrested but Mikie Wine’s situation worsened and was rushed to hospital.”
