Bobi Wine announces Easter shows amidst previous bans

Former presidential candidate on NUP ticket Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.

Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine will address the public about is Easter shows to be held at his one love beach in Busabala with the aim to figure out how to keep away from authorities that have previously blocked them.

Ahead of his Easter shows, dubbed Engule mu Kyalenga, Bobi Wine will also address the issues within the public order management act (POMA) which opposition leaders have decried for finalising their assemblies by police.

Last year, Bobi Wine’s show on boxing day was closed at the last minute by police accusing him of failing to notify it ahead of time.  The same show had been blocked from happening at Mandela National Stadium saying the stadium had been previously booked for a wedding function.

However, on the day of the show, there was no wedding ceremony in Namboole. This blockage sparked off a public debate criticising the government of making it hard for the legislator to meet people, especially the youth in big numbers.

In 2018, Bobi Wine’s show that was meant to happen in Bulk was also blocked at the last moment saying the musician, now politician had failed to separate the MP he is and the musician.

“We don’t want to find a music show where there are two people, Robert Kyagulanyi and Bobi Wine. At the shows, we call on Bobi Wine to sing and not make political statements.  This is inciting violence,” a police statement read in part.

This followed an event at the launch of his song Kyarenga, Bobi Wine entered into political semantics introducing another new song called Tuliyambala engule.  The police said this was bleaching the rules they had previously set for him.
