Stand to win a recording deal and Shs378 in The Voice competition

Lilian Mbabazi, Jackie Chandiru, Cindy, Bruno K, Winnie Nwagi and Sandra Suubi were all birthed through singing competitions but their rise to fame didn’t involve a recording deal with Universal records or winning a cash prize of Shs378.

There is a new singing competition that might see one Ugandan walking away with all that plus many more if they emerge winners.

The Voice, a new singing competition was launched by Airtel Uganda recently in a bid to discover the next big star.

Seven participants will be selected from 14 countries and will then be selected to participate in the programme, with one of them eventually being crowned The Voice of Africa.

The 7-selected participants will win Shs18.9m on top of other goodies before they go to a boot camp where they will undergo intense coaching by vocal and performance trainers. They will also join the other 13 countries to compete for the top prize of Shs378m.

The winner will be rewarded a recording deal with Universal Music, which is one of the world’s top reputable music labels.

After many preliminary off-screen audition rounds, the most promising talents will be selected for the TV shows.

100 participants will be selected from Uganda, Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, Niger, Zambia, Malawi, Madagascar, Seychelles, DR Congo, Congo (Brazzaville). Rwanda and Chad.

To participate in this competition, you need to record a one-minute MP4 video of yourself singing with no instruments and visit the Voice of Africa website, create an account and upload it there.

Ugandan auditions will start on November 17th and will be held in Kampala and Gulu.
