Lil Pazo, Gravity’s vulgarity issue was mishandled-Eddy Kenzo

Senior presidential advisor on creatives and Ugandan National Musicians Federation interim president, Eddy Kenzo has publicly Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC) for allegedly mishandling the issue concerning musicians Lil Pazo and Gravity Omutujju’s vulgar songs.

According to the Big Talent Entertainment boss, real name Edrisah Musuuza, UNCC should have handled the issue different, instead of trying “to show superiority.”

“However much someone makes a mistake, you are supposed to know how to handle them. First and foremost, those are artistes who might be going through hard times. You haven’t called them for a sit down [chat] to find out what is happening but waking up and making that decision was wrong,” he said.

He added that a warning in leadership positions is important and that as the federation, they should also have been consulted.

“However much I don’t support vulgarity in the creative industry, they should have been warned and found a resolution instead of showing superiority.”

UNCC slammed the musicians for producing and promoting vulgar music following a public outcry.

During a multi-stakeholder dialogue held earlier this week at the UNCC headquarters in Kampala, key resolutions were made to address what has been described as the deterioration of Ugandan cultural values due to obscene music and performances.

The meeting was chaired by Phina Mugerwa, Vice Chairperson of the UNCC while other sectors like the Uganda Police Force (UPF), Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), Ministry of Ethics and Integrity, and other regulatory and cultural organizations were also represented.
