The Big Meeting with Nonso Amadi

A couple of years ago, Nigerian artistes had turned Uganda into their safe space. In fact someone online once joked that Uganda is a venue while some people had started stating that for any burgeoning Nigerian artiste to make it internationally, they had to first perform in Uganda.

But the last two years, the number of Nigerian artistes performing in Uganda has gone down tremendously. A few days ago, however, Nigerian artiste and songwriter Nonso Amadi came to Uganda for the Big Meeting at Thrones Lounge.

Amadi delivered a fun and lively performance that left Kampala’s party enthusiasts in ecstasy during the Singleton-powered event.

The night began with noticeable excitement as fans filled the Bugolobi-based bar and lounge and the headliner did not disappoint, taking to the stage with his smooth, soulful voice and captivating energy.

He opened his set with crowd favourites Dance Alone, Different, and Kilimanjaro. He also had a few treats for his fans as he performed a rendition of Radio and Weasel’s Nakudata and Koffee’s Toast, effortlessly blending RnB and Afro-fusion.

The peak moment came when he performed Tonight with the audience passionately singing along to every lyric. The connection with fans was so good that he sang it twice.

“This is the kind of energy I love to see,” Nonso said mid-performance, visibly moved by the crowd’s joy. “A special thank you to all of you here tonight, I cannot wait to be back!”

Backing up the Nigerian star were Kampala’s own Kohen Jaycee and A.K.A Dope Band, who set the stage perfectly with their opening performances.

Sir Aludah, DJ Sesse, Em That Guy, DJ Jerry, DJ Heydez, and Quin DJ each brought their unique flair, keeping the tempo high and the crowd on their feet until the early hours of Monday morning.
